“Be still and know that I am God” - Psalm 46:10
May 9, 2002 I stood at a nurses’ station answering question about my daughter who’d just been killed in car accident. My voice was shaking, my arms were shaking and my legs felt like noodles. It seemed that I was a robot in action at command. Then, as a warm spring washing over my body, an unexplained peacefulness flowed through my veins as I heard God softly say, “Be still and know that I am God.”
I immediately felt like a tiny sparrow that had been lifted and placed right next to the heart of God. Safe, secure, and clear of mind, I was able to answer hard questions and hopefully point others to the greatness of the mercy and closeness of God.
In these trying times we need not worry about what is going on around us. We must keep our eyes on the cross and allow our Heavenly Father to lift us up, pull us close, and whisper- “Be still and know that I am God.”
He never fails.
With much love and grace!
